Indian teenage cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set a
new record with a historic performance in men's List A
cricket. He achieved this feat in the opening match of the
Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, adding a new chapter to
Indian domestic cricket. At just 14 years and 272 days
old, he became the youngest centurion in the history of
List A cricket, highlighting the growing role of young
talent.

2. Saleem Ahmed assumes charge as Chairman and
Managing Director of RVNL
Saleem Ahmed formally assumed charge as the new
Chairman and Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam
Limited (RVNL) on December 23, 2025. This appointment
comes at a time when India is focusing heavily on rapid
expansion, modernization, and capacity enhancement of
its railway infrastructure.

3. After the Fukushima shutdown, Japan will restart the
world's largest nuclear power plant.
Japan is moving forward with the restart of the
Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, the world's
largest nuclear power plant. This plant will be restarted
for the first time since the 2011 Fukushima nuclear
accident, signaling a significant shift in Japan's energy
policy.

4. The increase in institutional deliveries in India to 89%
has led to a significant decline in maternal mortality
rates.
India has witnessed a sharp decline in maternal mortality
rate in recent years, primarily due to the increase in
institutional deliveries to approximately 89 percent. This
achievement reflects the strength of the country's public
health system and is considered a significant
advancement in the field of women's and child health.

5. SEBI approves NHAI's Highway Infrastructure
Investment Trust to operate as a Public InvIT.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has
received approval from the Securities and Exchange
Board of India (SEBI) for its sponsored Highway
Infrastructure Investment Trust (RIIT) to operate as a
public infrastructure investment trust, as announced on
December 24, 2025. This approval is considered a
significant step in India's infrastructure financing
framework and asset monetization strategy.

6. India's largest circular stone labyrinth discovered in
Maharashtra.
Indian archaeologists have discovered India's largestever
circular stone labyrinth in the Boramani grasslands
of Solapur district in Maharashtra, believed to be
approximately two thousand years old. This structure
dates back to the early Common Era, a period when the
Deccan region was highly active politically, economically,
and culturally.

7. The logo and mascot of the first Khelo India Tribal
Games were unveiled in Bilaspur.
In a significant step towards inclusive sports
development in India, the first edition of the Khelo India
Tribal Games has been formally launched, scheduled to
begin on February 14, 2026. The logo, theme song, and
official mascot were unveiled on this occasion, marking
the formal commencement of the event.

8. International Day of Epidemic Preparedness
The International Day of Epidemic Preparedness is
observed every year on December 27th, aiming to
strengthen global preparedness for pandemics and
infectious diseases. This day was proclaimed by the
United Nations General Assembly in 2020, directly in
response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID crisis
clearly demonstrated the unevenness and weaknesses of
healthcare systems worldwide.
